Background:
Amy Fisher was born on August 21st, 1974 in Wantagh, Long Island. She was an only child and while growing up she suffered a traumatic childhood. Growing up, her relationship with her father was troublecome and she claimed she was terrified of him. Although, she became very close with her mother and was able to build a close and loving relationship. As she got older by the age of thirteen, she was raped by a family contracter and then abused by a family member. Although the pain inflicted on her, she eventually began to "numb" her emotions because it was all that she could've done at that point in her life. By her mid-teenage years she started to experience relationships which resulted in a pregnancy and eventually an abortion. She believed that none of the relationships captured her attention until she met a man in the summer of 1991 that changed her view.

Joey Buttafuoco was born on March 11th, 1956. He was married to Mary Jo and also the auto body shop owner that Amy Fisher had her eyes on. They would get together at local motels to spend their alone time together. Despite the fact that Joey was married with two children, that didn't stop Amy. She continued to fall deeper and deeper in love with him. She was so in love that 2 weeks into their relationship she broke out in a rash that later on created herpes. She eventually told her parents, but denied that Joey had given it to her because she didn't want him to be charged with statuary rape and ruin her love for him. As her love for Joey began to grow she became obsessed and things began to change when she told Joey he had to choose between her and his wife. As Joey simply denied and said that he would never leave his wife for her, they broke up and she continously got jealous of Mary Jo.

Evidence:
Mary Jo had no idea that on this day her life would change for the worst. Amy Fisher approached the home of Mary and Joey Buttafuoco. She claimed that she had to speak with Mary about her husbands affair. Amy Fisher talked about how he was having an affair with a 17 year old girl and that she had proof regarding the affair. She held up a T-Shirt with the logo "Complete Auto Body and Fender, Inc." Mary knew that he had those shirts made for work purposes and she wasn't surprised that Amy had had one because she knew her husband had given away many of them. Eventually, Mary became angered by Amy's accusations and demanded Amy to leave her property. Mary turned her back to call her husband, but as soon as she did that Amy pulled out a .25-caliber semiautomatic pistol and shot Mary straight to her head. The neighbors heard the gun shots and when they stepped outside they found Mary Jo bleeding on her front porch. They immediately alerted the police and ambulance. Mary Jo was rushed into surgery. After surgery she became conscious again and was able to give the police details of the shooting. Her husband knew that the truth would come out sooner or later so he decided to tell them that he knew the shooter was Amy Fisher. When they identified the suspect to Mary, she was able to clearly point out that that was the girl who had shot her. Currently, Mary Jo is deafened in one ear and partially paralyzed in one side of the face.
